“could”, “can”in geçmiş zaman halidir. Geçmişte yaşanmış yetenekleri anlatır.

I could run when I was young. (Gençken koşabiliyordim.)

I could read without eyeglasses. (Gözlüksüz okuyabiliyordum.)

She could dance in dance school. (Dans okulundayken, dans edebiliyordu.

“could” sadece geçmişe bağlı değildir. Şu an devam eden yeteneğinizi kullanmak için de kullanabiliriz.

I could play piano. (Piyano çalabilirim.)

She could draw picture. (Resim çizebilir.)

COULD HAVE + V3

Geçmişte yaşanmış olasılıkları bildirmek için kullanılır.

I could have buy it but I forgot. (alabilirdim ama unuttum.)

She could have say us. (Bize söyleyebilirdi.)

They couldn’t come to café. (Kafeye gelmeyebilirdi.)
